WEEK 1 (2/4/2019)
Hearst Mansion
Our first class started with Mr Jeffrey giving us a brief introduction to the module and expectations of what to come throughout the semester. After that, we jumped right into Adobe Photoshop. It was my first time using this software but Mr Jeffrey made it easy for us by teaching us some shortcuts. We started off by playing around with the features in photoshop. Our first exercise was to photoshop Shazam into the Hearst Mansion. From this lecture, I learnt some features such as quick selection, deselection, match colour, free transform, apply shadows and reflection and more.
This week's skillset:
- Open image file in Photoshop
- Selecting image using Quick Selection
- Zoom in, out and panning images
- Copy and Paste
- Deselect Images
- Undo and Redo
- History
- Layers
- Deleting Layer
- Duplicating Layer
- Rearrange Layer

- Hue and Saturation

- Shadow Painting

Our next exercise was to photoshop ourselves into Hearst Mansion and to make it look believable.
I used the techniques that I've learnt in class and here is the result:

WEEK 2 (9/4/2019)
Ghost House
This week of lecture we learnt how to photoshop a ghost bride into a house. Below were the pictures used in this exercise.
This week's skillset:
- Adding Layer Mask
- Selective masking
- Brush masking
- Creating Smart Object
- Rasterizing Image (To revert to layer)
- Blending Modes (Shift +)
- Cycling through blending mode with the keyboard
- Invert mask (image > adjustments)
- Gradient Tool

After the ghost house exercise, we had another exercise which is to mask the sky background to a house. Below were the pictures used in this exercise.

I combined these two images into one and matched the colour of the house to the sky background.

WEEK 3 (16/4/2019)
This week, we learned how to recolour black and white or discoloured images into coloured versions. To start off, Mr Jeffrey taught us how to recolour a potrait of an old man.
- Recolour
- Hue/Saturation (command + U)
- Blending modes (Shift +), [soft light]
- Pen tool
- Blur tool
- Selective masking (command + click the layer boxes)
- Vector tool

For this exercise, I've decided to dig up an old photo of my grandparents when they were young and try to recolour them into their original state. Below is the photo before.

I recoloured their skin, eyes, face, lips, eyebrows, clothing and the background. Here is the final outcome: |

WEEK 4 (23/4/2019)
We learned how to apply and change textures on a flat photo and create hybrid animals.

For this exercise, I chose to photoshop the texture of giraffe's skin onto a polar bear.

WEEK 5 (29/4/2019)
Castle of PyreneesFor this weeks exercise, we were introduced to a painting by Rene Magritte called the Castle of Pyrenees. Below is the original picture.

We were told to recreate a surrealistic artwork that is based on the painting but we were given the freedom to put our own touch into our work as long as the concept is the same. Below was my first outcome, It didn't turn out well because I just did it like a trial.

After doing my second attempt, Mr Jeffrey said that it doesn't look realistic enough. Thus, I scraped everything and reworked on a new piece. Below are the reference photos that I used for my final outcome.
