REFLECTION

EXPERIENCE

This module definitely had a lot of "surprises" for me. Firstly, I didn't know that we had to base our brand on the first activity that we did, which was to come up with three interesting and unique jobs. Due to rare nature of my business, I definitely struggled a lot in the early stage, trying to make my brand look and feel legitimate. The thought process that went behind the meaning of the brand was really detailed, even to each meaning of each letter and symbol used. It was also difficult to look for competitors in the market that provides the same service. However, through the initial thought process that was done much earlier on, it saved a lot of my time for the later stage in the development of the brand guide descriptions. Aside from that, this module was no doubt one of the heaviest. We had to multitask between few different tasks at once. However, this module gave us the opportunity to create our own brand and merchandise, which is really interesting.

OBSERVATION

Throughout this module, it is really interesting to see what my peers come up with their brand from scratch. It makes me think that if I was an actual customer, would I be interested in their brand? And after hearing their brand story, would I be more interested? It would be really cool if we were to print all our applications out and to set it up as if it is the actual business setting. It would be fun if we could have a simulation of experiencing the brand as a regular customer. Unfortunately that can't happen cause we're all still stuck at home.

FINDINGS

I found that this module has helped me appreciate brands around me. I can see which brand puts in effort in their branding or some other brands just don't really care. Ms. Low is really insightful about brands. It was really eye opening to see the different designs that was created for different brands, as well as the business cards she shown from mostly local brands. Another thing I'm grateful for is for her patience with us at reviewing our work one by one and giving us such detailed feedback. Every week spending long hours looking at the screen and pushing us to improve our work isn't easy, but now that it is over, I'm glad that we can all take some form of break and unwind a little.
