Lecture 1 - Brand & Corporate Identity
In the first class, Ms. Low introduced us to the module outline and gave a short lecture on brand/branding.
We also watched a short animation film called "Logorama" which constructed its elements mostly from logos. This animation is really impressive as it uses different logos to represent the item. It also uses mascots from brands for the characters in the film. I was really captivated by the ending where the logos form the planets as it zooms out. The wordplay with the logos is ingenious.
INSTRUCTIONS
PROJECT 1A
14/04/20 (Week 1)
We were to create a presentation based on three questions, what is brand, brand identity, and branding. We also have to include a case study on a brand of our choice. We had 1 week to research and prepare our slides.
The brand I have chosen is Coca-Cola. CocaCola is a well-established brand and is known for their successful branding efforts throughout the years.
Here is my research document.

FEEDBACK
General Feedback: Ms. Low suggested that we can look into the word elements in brands instead of visual elements.
Specific Feedback: Ms. Low commented that my presentation is complete and concise and she highlighted how the logo of Coca-Cola is good at adapting to different countries.
It was refreshing to learn again what brand, brand identity, and branding mean. I also realized that there is so much planning and thought to be put into a brand. I am also more aware of the different brands of items that I can see in the house now.
REFLECTION
EXPERIENCE
We had an introduction to the module and it was the first time having Ms. Low as our lecturer in the module. Having to learn about branding already back in my foundation days definitely gave me a headstart into this module. For my research, studying Coca-Cola was pretty interesting to do as there are many resources online about the successful branding of Coca-Cola and we also got to learn about the history of brand.
OBSERVATION
OBSERVATION
Making a google doc prior to making the slides was a big help. Since I have all the information compiled in the document, I only have to extract the important information to be included in my slides.
FINDINGS
It was refreshing to learn again what brand, brand identity, and branding mean. I also realized that there is so much planning and thought to be put into a brand. I am also more aware of the different brands of items that I can see in the house now.
