Lecture 5: Critical Review

27/9/19 (Week 5)

This week we learned about critical review and it will be our next project where we have to critically review 7 research papers. Dr. Jinchi helped us with our understanding of what we needed to do and look before writing a critical review. We were to go through the guidelines provided in Times to aid in our critical review.

Research 

For our critical reviews, we were required to analyse the articles we collected from our proposals, and to write a review on 7 of them. This allows us to learn how to evaluate and read critically on research articles which will help us in our research paper.

Week 5

First attempt of critical reviews:

Feedback: Dr. Jinchi commented on 4 of my critical reviews. She helped with the corrections of my grammar, sentence structure and some terms used. She also asked me to give more of my own opinions on the points mentioned. Overall, she commented that my reviews were quite well written. 

Week6 

Completed critical reviews: 




Final Feedback: • Relevance of research: Research is relevant and most are recent ones. 
• Clarity of examination: 
CR1-CR3 – Well-written with clear summary and elaborate critique 
CR4 – Critique is mostly found only in paragraph 2 and the last one. 
CR5 and CR7 – Summary and critique are written satisfactorily. 
CR6 – Mostly summary. Critique is minimal.
