FINAL PROJECT
Week 1 (07/01/20)
In the first class, we were to form groups delegate roles for our final project and my group consisted of Abigail, Gordon and Kelly.
Content writer - Kelly
Graphic designer - Gordon
Sound & Motion Graphics - Abby & Kar Yan
For our infographic video, we were given the topic of water. From there, we started to brainstorm and discuss about our ideas.
The final idea that we landed was "What would happen if we ran out of saliva?" and Mr. Shamsul had approved of it.
(10/01/20)
We started writing the narrative of our video. We gave other groups to test out our narrative and gotten feedback. We were told to work on our mood boards at home and to plan out our typing style, transition style, motion graphics, typefaces, colour scheme and more. Below is our first attempt at the narrative.
Week 2
(17/01/20) We presented our mood board to the class.
(17/01/20) We presented our mood board to the class.
For our transitions, Mr. Shamsul commented that we should focus on one transition which is the dolly in transition or we can combine it with the transforming transition. He also suggested us to decide on a complimentary typeface.
Week 3
This week, we finalized our narrative script and moved on to sketching our storyboards. We separated and delegated the scenes for each member to draw the storyboards.
Here is our final narrative.
Here are our draft storyboards.
Feedback: Mr. Shamsul wanted us to refine some scenes and asked us to determine the transitions between individual scenes. He also asked us to refine our composition styles and to determine the placement of our text.
Week 4
This week, I recorded my voiceover using my Samson Go microphone at home. Having to keep repeating the same lines over and over again to achieve the perfect intonation and pronunciation was challenging. Meanwhile, Gordon worked on creating the graphics and Abby compiled the graphics and background music.
Here is our animatics video:
Feedback: Mr. Shamsul commented that the background music was too loud. In his personal opinion, the lubricant effect scene was too fast and we should show the teeth that are broken instead of ulcers when the character couldn't eat. He also asked us to label the amylase, lysozymes, bacteria and red blood cells. He also suggested us to increase the usage of graphs and charts in our video.
Our updated and compiled storyboard:
Week 5
We were in Tokyo, Japan for our Intercultural Project.
Week 6
Starting from this week, we were notified that most of our classes will be self-conducted online as there were a lot of deadlines and workloads to catch up with and we were also given consultations for the days that we didn't have to go to class.
We begin delegating our tasks and setting mini-deadlines for us to accomplish the workload. Gordon will be in charge of all the graphics and the scenes were split between Abby and me to animate. Meanwhile, Kelly will be in charge of adding sound effects.

I was in charge of editing scenes 1,5,6,9,10, and 11 while Abby took 2,3,4,7 and 8. Prior to animating, both of our After Effects program should be of the same version. Abby is using After Effects 2020 while I'm using After Effects 2018. Furthermore, my laptop was having issues with low RAM and storage space. Hence, I had to install After Effects 2020.
I was struggling a lot in the beginning with the system telling me that it wasn't compatible. After deleting and uninstalling items, my laptop has enough
