FINAL PROJECT

For our final project, we were to adapt our book into an Ebook for an iPad screen (1024px x 768px). The Ebook is a digital publication and will involve us to create animations for our visuals.

Week 10

To start off with my iPad layout, this is my chosen typeset.



Heading: Special Elite / 30pt
Body text: Garamond / 20pt
Pull-quote: IM Fell English / 24pt
Sub-text: Crimson Text / 16pt

First attempt at layout

I attempted the first layout for the Ebook. I accidentally thought that we have to finish the whole layout so I went and complete it prior to Mr. Vinod's feedback.

I had trouble with my After Effects and couldn't open the application. Hence, I did my first animation in Photoshop.

Week 11

This week I focused on creating the animations from the cover to the end of chapter 1 in After Effects.

FEEDBACK

WEEK 10

Specific Feedback: I should increase the point size of my body text and subtext. The layout is okay but it's monotonous. And I should focus on the first page to the end of first chapter, not the whole thing. We have to follow the right processes too, test the type specimen, grid options, layout. As for my animation, it looks good and I can have slight variation on the other animations.

WEEK 11
Specific Feedback: My animation looks good, some a little monotonous so I can try to add a little bit more variation to it such as the flat image zooming out from the screen etc. My cover animation can have the elements in different timing and the plane to move out of the page. As for my layout, it looks fine and I can continue to finish the rest.

WEEK 12

Specific Feedback: Regarding my Ebook layout, Good job on the typographic choices, though some minor adjustments with the subtext. needed. For one of my animation, make the plane fly straight in a line instead of up and down. Overall, good job and nice.

WEEK 13

Specific Feedback: Make the plane animation on your cover in a straight line. Other than that, everything looks fine and I'm done.

REFLECTION

EXPERIENCE

Week 10: This week I worked on the first chapter of my ebook. This time I had a different challenge, that I couldn't fit my visuals and text at the same time. Hence, I needed to have a different approach to how I fit them in, unlike the book.

Week 11: I had issues with my After Effects where I couldn't seem to open the application. After countless attempts, I found a temporary solution for that but it has yet to be resolved. still managed to make my animations and had them layers properly organized to make things easier.

Week 12: Animating the rest of my animations feels so much easier now after getting the flow of it. I managed to finish my book layout as well.

Week 13: This week I worked on finishing the final touches of the ebook with the interactive animations as well as the navigations throughout the book.

OBSERVATION

Week 10: Designing the ebook was a different challenge as I needed to rethink the placement of the text and visuals and adapt them to a smaller size.

Week 11: I needed to save each visual into a new photoshop project file in order to work with the layers in After effects.

Week 12: I noticed the workload has been really easy on us especially in these last few weeks as compared to other modules.

Week 13: Watching tutorials from YouTube really helped a lot during the animation process as well as navigating around Indesign.

FINDINGS
Week 10: I realized that I have to increase the point size for the body text so much more as it is an iPad version.

Week 11: Animating the visuals was quite interesting as I get to see how once a static visual come to motion, it gives it life and an added meaning into it.

Week 12: I felt really relieved this week as I'm almost there towards the finalizing of my ebook.

Week 13: As I've been consistently updating my blog weekly, I found it easier for me to complete what's required within a shorter time.
