29/05/20 (Week 7)

Initially, the idea I had in mind was to incorporate geometric elements and memphis patterns. After discussion with Dr. Jinchi, she mentioned that I can mimic the look and feel from skincare products into my book design. Therefore, I changed my theme into having nature elements and earthy tones as my research topic is based on two nature loving skincare brands, Kiehl's and The Body Shop.

05/05/20 (Week 8)

This week, I started to work on the visuals for my book and the book cover. The visuals were drawn with my drawing pad.

I made a few attempts on the book cover and Dr. Jinchi chose this and helped me make some minor adjustments.

FEEDBACK

WEEK 7
For my literature review, I don't have to include the bibliography in, and also replace it with the authors' name. I can group few articles together, even up to four articles is acceptable and talk about their similarities and differences. I can also compare their research methodologies. At the beginning of our literature review, we should also have a short paragraph to introduce our literature review. For my book design concept, my first idea is cleaner. Dr. Jinchi is concerned with the use of pastel colours as it feels powdery and fashion related. Instead, I can look into skincare products and study their design. It will give me a closer picture when it comes to the design of my book which is related to skincare products. We are to show a few examples of our book design next week as well as a completed literature review.

WEEK 8
Dr. Jinchi checked on my amended literature review and made some additional changes to it. In some of the points made, I should have an elaboration of the comparison. For my book cover design, Dr. Jinchi liked the 3rd option and she helped adjusted the positioning of the elements. Good.

WEEK 9
Dr. Jinchi suggested that I add more illustrations or have a system for every alternate page so it doesn't look too flat. My illustrations can be made into a pattern where some is cropped while some being scaled. Just make the design a little popped out.

WEEK 10

No feedback as we were given time off to complete our dissertation.

WEEK 11
Dr. Jinchi helped made some minor suggestions to the book design but overall it has no issues. I can now focus my efforts towards the Flip book. There is no need to have anything on the back cover.
